Lesser whistling duck

Listed as Least Concern species on the IUCN red list, also known as Indian whistling duck, a largely resident species across freshwater wetland in southeast asia and india subcontinent. You may often find them in lakes, paddy fields, riverbanks and sometimes coastal areas. They mainly feeds on plants from wetlands, grains from cultivated rice, small fishes, frogs and worms

Do you know why ducklings swim behind their mother in a row?

Because the babies take a ride on the mother’s waves and they can save some energy.

Know the Artist:

Wing Yin LAU, originally from Hong Kong, currently stays in Kolkata , West Bengal. She has learned Chinese ink painting for years and she keeps on exploring new mediums to express her creativity while facing the difficulty to find certain art material in India. One day she tried her brush and strokes on a piece of Canvas bag and started her art journey of handpainted design bags. Themes of artwork mostly on nature, such as orchids, birds, butterflies of the local places where she goes to.  She also likes to depict some scenes on the street which she finds interesting. Her works have been showcased in eco-store in Hong Kong. Connecting people and the surroundings that they are living in through her works is one of the major objectives of her art journey.
